Illegal immigrant wearing US flag t-shirt nabbed at NY border

New York, Jul 19: In a bizarre twist to a routine arrest, a man caught illegally crossing into the United States drew attention not for his actions, but for his attire—a T-shirt boldly featuring the American flag.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed on Friday that they arrested an illegal immigrant at the Peace Bridge in New York. Sharing the update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the agency mocked the individual, writing, “Nice shirt! But it doesn't erase the fact that you entered the country illegally.”

The CBP also revealed that the unidentified man has a prior criminal record, including multiple DUI offenses and a misdemeanor assault charge. “Criminal illegal aliens have no place in the US,” the agency added in its post.

The arrest follows heightened immigration enforcement measures rolled out by the federal government. US President Donald Trump, in a recent Truth Social post, called for increased deportation efforts, particularly targeting cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

In response, the administration has introduced a two-pronged strategy: stepped-up arrests and deportations for migrants with criminal backgrounds, alongside a voluntary self-deportation program. The new “CBP Home” app allows migrants to register their intention to leave the country, avoiding arrest or detention. Eligible individuals are even offered assistance in booking flights and a $1,000 incentive to exit.

Just last week, 361 illegal immigrants were arrested in raids at two marijuana farms in Southern California, as reported by the New York Post, reflecting the scale of the ongoing crackdown.
