Udupi, Jul 16: As part of its community outreach and innovation promotion efforts, the Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organised an ATL connect programme on July 15 at Sri Anantheshwara English Medium School, Udupi.

The event, aimed at enhancing digital literacy and creativity among school students, also featured a session on Canva basics, attracting enthusiastic participation from over 50 students of classes 9 and 10.

The mentoring activity was divided into two key segments, one focused on hardware integration / simulation using Tinkercad and the other on digital creativity using the Canva platform.

The programme began with a lively introduction to the Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) initiative, highlighting the significance of early exposure to problem-solving and innovation. Student volunteers from SMVITM demonstrated the use of Arduino Uno, sensors, and various other components, offering students a hands-on experience with modern embedded systems and simulations using the Tinkercad platform.

In the second half of the session, students were introduced to Canva, a popular graphic design tool. The workshop covered the platform’s features and guided the participants in creating posters and visual content, encouraging creativity and digital expression.

The event was successfully conducted by SMVITM student volunteers Athula Bhat, Aditya, Balaram Bharadwaj, Rakhi, Alaka, and Rajani. The entire initiative was coordinated by Raghavendra Hegde, assistant professor (senior), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVITM.

The programme received positive feedback from both students and school faculty, reaffirming SMVITM’s commitment to nurturing technological awareness and creative skills in young learners through community engagement.
