Mumbai, Jul 12: Actor R Madhavan, known for his versatile performances, returns to the screen with “Aap Jaisa Koi”, a heartfelt romantic drama that resonates deeply with him — not just for its story, but for where it was filmed.

A significant portion of the movie was shot in Jamshedpur, Bihar, Madhavan’s hometown. During filming, the actor visited his old school, an experience that stirred powerful memories.

“Walking into my school brought back a flood of emotions,” Madhavan shared. “I remembered all the anxiety I had about my future during those days. Until Class 8 or 9, it was all fun, but then came the pressure — the fear of not succeeding, the stress of exams, and the overwhelming uncertainty.”

He reflected on how those fears now seem trivial. “When I didn’t clear the IIT entrance, my parents thought it was the end of the road. But today, I look back and realise all those so-called failures were just detours, not dead ends. Life had other plans.”

Madhavan added with a smile, “What once felt like the end of the world now feels so insignificant. Life always has a way of surprising you.”

Directed by Vivek Soni, “Aap Jaisa Koi” features Fatima Sana Shaikh opposite Madhavan. The story follows Shrirenu Tripathi, a shy, middle-aged Sanskrit professor, and Madhu Bose, a lively French teacher, as their unexpected romance unfolds.

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment (Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra), the film premiered on Netflix on July 11, offering viewers an intimate exploration of love, timing, and self-discovery.
