J&K Police seize Rs 3.2 Crore worth of property from PoK-based terrorists in major crackdown

Srinagar, Jul 13: In a decisive blow to terror networks operating out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday attached immovable property worth Rs 3.2 crore belonging to three absconding terrorists from Ganderbal district.

Acting on FIR No. 48/2009 under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, registered at Kheerbawani Police Station, Ganderbal Police confiscated 9 kanals and 1.5 marlas of land belonging to Farooq Ahmad Rather, Noor Mohammad Parray, and Mohammad Maqbool Sofi—all residents of the Ganderbal area currently operating from across the border in PoK.

The property attachment followed due legal process and was executed in accordance with orders issued by the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge (Special Judge under the NIA Act). In an official statement, the police affirmed that the action reflects a broader, ongoing campaign to dismantle networks “inimical to the sovereignty and integrity” of Jammu & Kashmir.

This crackdown comes in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, on April 22, which claimed 26 civilian lives and was linked to Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives. Since then, security forces, under the direction of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, have intensified efforts to strike at not only active militants but also their support networks, overground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers.

Lt Governor Sinha’s anti-terror strategy extends beyond combat operations, focusing on dismantling the entire terror ecosystem — including financial, logistical, and ideological enablers that allow militant activities to sustain and spread.

This latest asset seizure underscores the administration’s shift toward a holistic approach to counterinsurgency — one that aims to eliminate both the agents of violence and the infrastructure that enables their survival.
