Udupi: Adarsha Hospital marks Doctors' Day, free health camp held

Udupi, Jul 9: On occasion of Doctors' Day Adarsha Hospital Udupi, Adarsha Charitable trust organized a free health checkup camp and felicitation programme for the doctors.

Yashpal Suvarna, Udupi MLA inaugurated the programme. Addressing the gathering he said, "Udupi district has attracted the attention of the world in the field of health and education. Teachers and doctors are working with a spirit of service even though they receive a salary." He said that the contribution of both these sectors is important in the upliftment of society.

Additional deputy commissioner Abhid Gadyal said that the most complex machine in the world is the human body. "To keep it in good condition, immense knowledge and expertise are required," he said and added that if the medical profession is done with a spirit of service, it will be of great benefit to the society.

Former minister Vinaykumar Sorake addressing the event said, "We have placed the doctors at par with the God. Due to the bad food habits the health is getting worsened which only doctors are able to repair."

Dr G S Chandrashekar, medical director, Adarsha Hospital presided over the ceremony. In his address he said, "Doctors should have humanitarian touch. Only 20% of the people are able to afford the super speciality medical services. The other 80% are deprived from these medical services. The governments should initiate programmes providing health infrastructure to the lower class as well."

Chief executive officer of Adarsha Hospital Vimala Chandrashekar was present.

Senior doctors Prof N R Rao, Dr Nagaratna Shastri, Dr Rama Rao, Dr Vasudeva Upadhyay, Dr Prashant Bhat, Dr Shashikiran Achar, Dr Bhavani Shankar were felicitated on this occasion. Anushree compered the programme.

As part of the camp, free health check-ups, including complete blood count (CBC), blood sugar, fat content tests, and liver scanning were conducted by specialist doctors. In addition, heart scanning and TMT tests were carried out free of cost for patients as advised by doctors.
