Udupi, Jul 7: A massive protest was organized in front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Udupi on Monday, July 7 under the leadership of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike. The protest was held to condemn what the organization described as illegal actions by the police against Hindu social activists in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The protestors also strongly criticized the Congress-led state government, accusing it of being anti-Hindu.

Speaking at the protest, prominent cow protection activist Sunil K R alleged that the state government is portraying the coastal region in a negative light. “There is a clear conspiracy underway in the coastal belt, where cases are being filed against leaders of Hindu organizations, and they are being falsely branded under Rowdy Sheets and the Goonda Act,” he said.

He further criticized chief minister Siddaramaiah, stating, “The same Siddaramaiah who once called the coast a ‘Hindutva factory’ is now working towards its destruction. The government is not just filing false cases but also harassing Hindu activists mentally by targeting their homes and families. The Hindu community remains vigilant and united."

He expressed his anger, stating, “The chief minister, home minister, and the district in-charge ministers must ensure peace and law and order in the district. I strongly urge them to allow the police department to conduct an impartial and lawful investigation without any political interference.”

He also questioned the intent behind the formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), suggesting that instead of targeting Hindu activists, the authorities should go after real criminals, those involved in cow slaughter, cow theft, and Love Jihad. He argued that taking strict action against such offenders would help maintain peace and communal harmony in society.

Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Kundapur MLA ; Gururaj Gantihole, Byndoor MLA; VHP leaders Vasudev Gangoli, Dinish Mendon, Mahesh Bailoor, Umesh Kokal, Nikhil Manchi, Reshama Uday Shetty , BJP Udupi district president Kuthyar Naveen Shetty and others were present in the protest.
