Mangaluru, Jul 1: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, organised a coconut shell craft competition on June 30 as part of its extracurricular initiatives. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 47 teams, each comprising five students, totalling 235 participants.
Out of these, 44 teams were from the undergraduate programmes namely II-year BBA Aviation Management, Aviation & Logistics Management, and III-year BBA Aviation Management and Aviation & Travel and Tourism Mmanagement while 3 teams represented the postgraduate I year MBA Aviation Management programme.






The event was organised under the guidance of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean; Anjana T V, head of the department; and Pratheeksha Shetty, cultural coordinator, with the support and coordination of other faculty members and staff.
Participants showcased exceptional craftsmanship by creating innovative and eco-friendly items from coconut shells, emphasizing the theme of sustainability through artistic expression.
In the undergraduate category, the team comprising Dhruva Shriyan, Harshith Adapa, Adithya M S, Manan N, and Abdul Afraz Ali from II-year BBA Aviation & Logistics Management secured first place. The second place was awarded to Mohammed Sinan, Muhammed Raneed, Shubham Dattatray Surve, Muhammed Ashiem Shibaz P, and N J Mohamed Badhsha, also from the same programme. In the postgraduate category, the first place was won by Agal K M, Sharon John D’Silva, Devika, Primal Sweedal Lobo, and Harshitha A from I year MBA Aviation Management.
The competition proved to be a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate their creativity, teamwork, and commitment to environmental responsibility. It successfully highlighted how innovative thinking and sustainability can go hand-in-hand, leaving a lasting impact on all those involved.
