Delhi, Jun 25: A man has been arrested in Delhi for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman for over three years under a false identity and on the pretext of marriage, police said.

The accused, who introduced himself as 'Rahul', was later identified as Faizal Mughal, a resident of Ballimaran in Chandni Chowk. He allegedly concealed his religion and posed as a Hindu to gain the trust of the woman, a BA second-year student from Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the woman met Faizal through Facebook in June 2021. Throughout their relationship, he portrayed himself as a devout Hindu, never revealing his real identity. She stated that he never wore traditional Muslim attire or distanced himself from Hindu practices, which made her believe in his fabricated identity.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that in 2022, Faizal called her to a hotel in Old Delhi's Nabi Karim area and sexually assaulted her. She further claimed that she was raped again in 2023 when she visited Delhi and that Faizal gave her abortion pills on two occasions.

The truth came to light when the woman recently pressured him to marry her. Faizal allegedly said he would only do so if she converted to Islam. Shocked by the revelation, she approached the police and filed a rape case.

Police are currently interrogating Faizal and investigating whether he deceived other women similarly.
