Udupi, Jun 25: Glowinstar Integrated School proudly hosted the CISCE Sports and Games 2025-26 zonal level basketball tournament on June 24, drawing enthusiastic participation from schools across the zone.
The tournament began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, a traditional gesture signifying a spirited sporting event. The headmistress Shantha Fernandes, welcomed all the participating teams and officials with warmth and enthusiasm.



















The tournament was formally inaugurated by the chief guest Dr Nelson Pinto, an orthopaedic surgeon, Club Doctor of Lucknow Super Giant (IPL Cricket Team) and Mohun Bagan Super Giant ISL Football Team of Kolkata. He delivered an inspiring speech encouraging students to embrace both victory and defeat with grace and to continue striving for excellence not only in sports but also in academics and life as well.
The principal Dr T J Quadros, in his address, emphasized the vital role of sports in nurturing discipline, teamwork and leadership. He urged all the players to uphold the true spirit of the game and praised their enthusiasm and commitment.
The tournament saw vibrant participation from several schools, each team showcasing exceptional teamwork, skill and determination.
In the Under-17 Girls’ Finals, St Theresa’s School, Mangalore played against Glowinstar Integrated School. The match kept the audience on the edge of their seats, with both teams demonstrating exceptional coordination and resilience. After several thrilling rounds, St Theresa’s School emerged victorious, while Glowinstar Integrated School secured the runners-up position, earning the pride and applause of the home crowd.
In the Under-17 Boys’ category, the spotlight was on Sharada Residential School and Shri Siddhivinayaka Residential School. The young players impressed spectators with their skill, energy and sportsmanship. Following several intense and competitive rounds, Sharada Residential School clinched the championship, while Shri Siddhivinayaka Residential School finished as runners-up.
The referees and organizing committee ensured the smooth conduct of the event, maintaining fairness and discipline at every stage.
The tournament concluded with a grand valedictory ceremony, during which trophies and certificates were awarded to the winning teams. The principal congratulated all the participants and appreciated their dedication and encouraged them to continue excelling in both academics and sports.
The tournament served as a powerful platform for the young players to shine and more importantly, it strengthened the spirit of unity, sportsmanship and healthy competition among schools in the zone.
