New York, Jun 22: US Vice President JD Vance praised the recent American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, describing the mission as a powerful display of precision, coordination, and military excellence. Taking to social media platform X on Sunday, Vance called the overnight operation “an incredible testament to American pilots and service members, from General Caine and General Kurilla on down.”
The strikes targeted Iran’s key uranium enrichment facilities at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz, using advanced stealth bombers equipped with powerful bunker-busting munitions to breach the country’s heavily fortified nuclear sites. The high-risk operation, announced by President Donald Trump, marked a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.
Addressing criticism of the administration’s handling of the crisis, Vance underscored the behind-the-scenes efforts of the president’s top advisors. “While the media has attacked the president's senior team relentlessly and tried to sow fake division, last night would have been impossible without perfect coordination and discretion from the national security team,” he wrote. “I'm incredibly proud of them, and I know the president is, too.”
In an interview, Vance clarified the mission's intent, asserting that the United States is not seeking regime change in Iran nor preparing for a drawn-out war. “We are not at war with Iran — we are at war with its nuclear programme,” he stated. “We do not want to protract this or build this out anymore than it's already been built out. We want to end their nuclear programme.”
The operation, conducted in the wake of escalating hostilities across the region, has drawn both domestic praise and international scrutiny.
Nonetheless, Vance’s remarks signal a firm stance by the US government to neutralize perceived nuclear threats without committing to broader military entanglements.
