Moodbidri, Jun 22: The Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri celebrated the solemnity of the most holy body and blood of Christ with great reverence and spiritual fervour on Sunday, June 22.
The day’s celebrations began with the recitation of the Rosary, setting a prayerful tone for the morning. This was followed by the holy Eucharistic Mass, concelebrated by Fr Onil D’Souza, parish priest of Corpus Christi Church, and Fr John Vas, spiritual director of Fr Muller’s Hospital, Kankanady. The liturgy was meaningfully organised by the parish pastoral council with active support from the parish choir, enhancing the solemnity of the celebration.

In his inspiring homily, Fr John Vas reflected on the sacrificial love of Christ, using the story of a soldier to illustrate the immense value of the Body and Blood of Jesus.
He highlighted the transformative power of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist and called upon the faithful to live in unity and brotherhood, just as the vine is united with its branches. He also emphasised the grace bestowed through the Eucharist and the real presence of Christ in the blessed sacrament and the holy Catholic Church.
Following the Mass, a grand procession of the blessed sacrament was held through the streets of Moodbidri, despite intermittent rain. The faithful, undeterred by the weather, joined in large numbers, walking prayerfully along the decorated vehicle carrying the Blessed Sacrament, accompanied by clergy, altar servers and Corpus Christi children’s band.
The celebration concluded with Benediction in the church. Fr Onil D’Souza extended heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the event. Refreshments were served, encouraging fellowship among parishioners. The celebration stood as a moving expression of faith and unity within the Corpus Christi community.
