Mumbai, Jun 19: Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur, known for starring in films with some of the most memorable soundtracks in recent years—from Aashiqui 2 and Fitoor to Malang, Ludo and the recently released Metro…In Dino—feels fortunate to have been part of projects blessed with soulful music.

Speaking to IANS, Aditya humbly stated, “Honestly, I haven't given it much thought. We've just gotten lucky with the music in the films I've been a part of.” He was quick to clarify that, as an actor, he does not contribute to the creation of music and therefore cannot take credit for the success of these tracks.

However, he acknowledged the vital role music plays in Indian cinema, calling it a key element in storytelling. “Music plays such a big part in our films that it's incredibly important—whether it’s being used to take the story forward or simply as entertainment, it really has to work. It can't be overstated how important music is.”

Aditya cited his 2013 romantic drama Aashiqui 2 as an example of how music helped shape the emotional tone during filming. He recalled that director Mohit Suri had the songs ready before the shoot, which helped the cast immerse themselves in the emotional depth of their characters. “Those tunes really got into our system and definitely helped us get into an emotional space,” he said.

Reflecting on how music is used during production, Aditya shared that directors often play background scores on set—especially during silent or montage scenes—to help actors get into the right frame of mind. “That music might not end up in the final film, but in that moment, it can be a powerful tool for the actor,” he added.

He concluded by saying, “It’s a tool directors use, and when used right, it can be incredibly helpful. Music can definitely aid a performance.”
