Beijing, Jun 18: In a bizarre yet miraculous turn of events, a 30-year-old woman in China survived a horrific knife attack, thanks to her breast implants, which blocked what could have been fatal stab wounds.
According to the South China Morning Post, the incident occurred on May 22 at a shopping mall in southeastern China. The victim, identified by her surname Ma, was attacked by a stranger who forced his way into her car and threatened her with a knife. Despite her cries for help in the parking area, bystanders failed to respond.

The attacker forced Ma to pay for parking, made her drive to a neighbouring county, and even demanded she borrow money from friends after checking her bank balance. In a moment of quick thinking, Ma texted her boyfriend, who then tracked her location and alerted police.
However, when authorities arrived, the attacker stabbed Ma 22 times in the chest before turning the knife on himself. He succumbed to his injuries, while Ma miraculously survived.
Doctors later revealed that Ma's breast augmentation surgery played a crucial role in saving her life. “Only one wound reached my lung. The implants absorbed the rest,” Ma told reporters after her discharge from the hospital.
While recovering physically, Ma expressed frustration over the authorities closing the case due to the attacker’s death. “It just feels like I was unlucky. Now that he’s dead, many things can’t be undone,” she said, voicing concern that the matter remains unresolved.
The shocking case has sparked widespread reaction on Chinese social media. “Who would’ve thought breast implants could save a life? The clinic deserves a banner!” one user wrote. Others demanded stricter security in public spaces, warning against systemic lapses in safety.
The extraordinary incident, though traumatic, has unexpectedly drawn attention to public safety, victim rights, and the role of medical procedures in unforeseen situations.
