Punjab politics heats up as Akali Dal targets AAP minister over alleged intimate photos

Daijiworld Media Network – Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Jun 18: A political controversy has erupted in Punjab after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia shared purported intimate photos of state minister Ravjot Singh and a woman, sparking calls for the minister’s immediate dismissal from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Majithia took to social media platform X, posting the images and accusing the minister of misconduct. In his strongly worded post, Majithia alleged that the minister had ‘played with the dignity of daughters and sisters,’ and demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal act swiftly by removing Ravjot Singh from the cabinet and expelling him from the party.

Responding to the allegations, Ravjot Singh denied any wrongdoing and claimed the photos were AI-generated and depicted his ex-wife. He maintained that the images were doctored and part of a malicious political campaign to malign his reputation.

Backing his minister, AAP’s Punjab unit chief Aman Arora came out in strong defence, slamming the Akali Dal for resorting to "dirty politics" and attempting character assassination. “This is a desperate attempt by a sinking party to divert attention from real issues,” he said.

The episode has ignited sharp reactions across the political spectrum, with AAP alleging a conspiracy and SAD pressing for accountability.

As the row deepens, political observers believe the controversy could significantly impact the volatile political landscape of Punjab ahead of key elections.
