Mangaluru, Jun 16: To honor the centenary year of the canonization of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus, a special orientation programme was organized for Catholic students from classes 4 to 10. The session aimed to introduce students to the inspiring life and timeless message of the ‘Little Flower.’
The session was led by Sr Smithanjali, whose deep love for the Saint and engaging style captured the hearts of all present. Through vivid storytelling, thought-provoking insights, and warm interaction, she illuminated the extraordinary journey of the young Carmelite, St Therese, who taught the world that sanctity can be found in the simplest acts of daily life.

Sr Smithanjali B S traced the key moments of St Therese’s life from her childhood, through her struggles and deep desire to follow Christ, to her life in the Carmel where she embraced her vocation with total trust and love. She emphasized the Saint’s ‘Little Way,’ a spiritual path marked by humility, confidence in God’s mercy, and doing small things with great love.
The session was not merely a presentation, but a spiritual encounter. Students were gently invited to reflect on their own lives and to discover how they, too, could walk the path of holiness in their everyday experiences. They were encouraged to be open to God’s call whether to holiness in daily life or to a religious vocation and were deeply inspired by Sr Smithanjali’s joyful witness.
A brief reflection activity followed, during which students wrote personal resolutions on how they could live out the ‘Little Way’ in their studies, relationships, and prayer life. The session concluded with a heartfelt prayer, asking St Thérèse to intercede for each young heart present.
