Bantwal, Jun 10: In a sudden development, the registrar of cooperative societies in Mangaluru has issued an order suspending 13 directors, including the board of directors of the Bantwal Land Development Bank.
The suspension follows a complaint by director Sudarshan Jain questioning the appointment of six individuals on a contract basis by the bank’s board. After an inquiry into the matter, the registrar suspended Sudarshan Jain himself along with 12 other directors, including president Arun Roshan D’Souza, barring them from contesting in the bank's elections for the next three years.
This board, backed by the BJP, had come to power at the Bantwal Land Bank after four decades. Prominent advocate from B C Road Arun Roshan D’Souza, was serving as the president. His term had one and a half years remaining, but in the meantime, a total of 13 directors have now been superseded as per the latest order.
