Kushinagar, Jun 10: Police in Uttar Pradesh have arrested four individuals in connection with the alleged kidnapping, rape, and forced conversion of a minor girl.
According to authorities, the victim's mother filed a complaint alleging that her daughter had been kidnapped. The complaint accused four individuals of committing the crime.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
During the investigation, police discovered that the girl was also forced to convert her religion. The primary accused, identified as Meraj, allegedly raped the victim while she was held against her will, with the assistance of a woman.
On Tuesday, police apprehended the four accused and successfully rescued the girl.
Inspector Anil Singh Yadav of the Vishunpura Police Station stated, "The accused, Meraj, along with his accomplices Seraj, Meruddin alias Merajuddin Ansari, and Haseena Khatoon, abducted the complainant's minor daughter, forcibly converted her, and committed sexual assault."
Additional charges, including Section 366 (kidnapping to compel marriage) of the IPC and sections of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, have been added to the case, according to district police officials.
Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
