Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 10: Carmel School, Mangaluru, buzzed with vibrant energy during its much-anticipated Freshers' Day celebration on Tuesday, June 10. The Mother Veronica Hall was filled with excitement as the school officially welcomed 31 new students, marking the start of their unique journeys and new friendships within the school community. This lively gathering set a warm tone for the academic year ahead.

The day began with an inspiring message, echoing the words of Malcolm X: “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” The presence of dignitaries — Sr Rosevera – the principal, and Dr Sr Prem D’Souza – the administrator, added significance to the occasion. Teachers and students, especially the freshers, gathered with eagerness.

The celebration opened with a serene prayer service, led by the students of grades 4 and 5, setting a sacred tone for the day. The prayer was specially offered for the freshers, seeking God’s blessings and guidance as they begin their academic journey. It was a moment of reflection and unity, drawing the school community together in hope and faith. The gathering prayed that the new students may be filled with joy, curiosity, confidence, and strength to face every challenge that comes their way. The gentle voices of the young students, along with meaningful readings and hymns, created an atmosphere of peace, making the prayer service a graceful beginning to the day’s celebration.

A highlight of the event was the spirited welcome dance performed by the teachers. Their dynamic movements and genuine smiles immediately captured the attention of the new students. The performance wasn't just a display of talent; it was a warm invitation to the Carmel School family. This enthusiastic welcome truly set a cheerful and inviting tone for the entire Freshers' Day celebration.

A memorable moment during the celebration unfolded as the principal and the administrator personally greeted each fresher with a rose, an emblem of hope, growth, and the promising journey that lies ahead. In her inspiring address, Sr Rosevera shared that the institution is proudly guided by the Apostolic Carmel Sisters. She gently advised students to read the school diary with care, underscoring its importance as a compass for their time at Carmel. Acknowledging that the school becomes a second home, she encouraged the young minds to seize every opportunity that comes their way.

She further emphasized the value of 'doing the right thing at the right time', pointing to focused studies and disciplined phone use as examples. She affirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing a joyful, holistic learning space where every student can thrive. She reminded the students to always wear a smile and carry cheerfulness in their hearts. Concluding with reassurance, she encouraged them to approach the counsellor, principal, administrator, or mentors whenever they feel low, promising that they will always be heard and supported.

The festivities continued with a vibrant dance performance by grade 5 students, who impressed the audience with their lively moves and liveliness. Their performance was met with thunderous applause.

As the event drew to a close, Anshika of class 5C expressed gratitude to the management, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to making Freshers’ Day a memorable occasion. The entire programme was seamlessly compered by Shylet, whose poised presence and engaging narration tied the event together with elegance.
