New Delhi, Jun 10: In a heart-wrenching incident on Tuesday morning, a devastating fire broke out at a residential high-rise in Dwarka Sector 13, claiming the lives of a man and his two children who leapt from the eighth floor in a desperate attempt to escape the flames.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Yash Yadav, who ran a flex board business, his 10-year-old son, and young daughter. The tragic incident unfolded in the Shabd Society apartment complex around 9:58 am, when thick smoke and fire engulfed their flat on the eighth floor, forcing Yadav and the children to jump from the balcony.

Despite swift medical intervention, all three were declared dead at IGI Hospital. Yadav’s wife and elder son managed to escape the inferno and are currently undergoing treatment.

The Delhi Fire Services pressed 13 fire tenders and deployed 88 firefighters to douse the flames and conduct rescue operations. Authorities confirmed that all other residents were safely evacuated from the building.

As a precautionary measure, electricity and piped gas connections to the structure were disconnected. Officials from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been alerted to assess the structural stability of the building in the aftermath of the fire.

Support teams have also been stationed at IGI and Aakash hospitals to assist the grieving family and those injured in the incident. The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
