Udupi, Jun 9: The prestigious Nethrajyothi College in Udupi marked World Environment Day in a unique way by distributing saplings to students.
The chief guest of the event, Udupi Sub-Divisional Forest officer Shivananda, addressed the gathering and spoke about the purpose of celebrating World Environment Day and the vital role students play in protecting the environment.
Another guest, Devaraj, beat forest officer from Udupi, encouraged everyone to celebrate their birthdays by planting a sapling, thus contributing to the cause of environmental conservation.

The event was presided over by the institution’s president, Rashmi Krishnaprasad, who emphasized that environmental protection should not be limited to just one day. He urged everyone to plant at least one sapling every month as a step towards safeguarding our environment.
On the dais were the college COO Dr Gauri Prabhu and coordinators Madhava Poojary, Sachin Shetty, Nagaraj Mendon, and HR Tara Shashidhar.
The programme began with a welcome speech by student Srujan. Vote of thanks was delivered by Yashaswini, and the event was compered by Shraddha. The programme concluded with the distribution of saplings to all the students.
