Bhubaneswar, Jun 9: The Odisha Vigilance Department on Sunday apprehended an IAS officer posted as Sub-Collector Dharamgarh, Kalahandi district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lac from a local businessman. During raids at his official residence, the team also recovered Rs 47 lac in cash.
According to the official statement, the officer, in his mid-30s, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe as an installment towards a total demand of Rs 20 lac. The accused reportedly called the complainant to his government residence, received the amount, and kept it inside his table drawer.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
