Delhi, Jun 8: In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old girl was discovered dead, her body stuffed in a suitcase in the Nehru Vihar area of North East Delhi. The grim discovery was made on Saturday night, with police suspecting sexual assault based on initial medical examinations.

The girl had gone to visit relatives but failed to return home after two hours, prompting her family to search for her. Reports indicated that she was last seen heading towards a house approximately 200 meters from her home. Upon arrival, her father found the door to a second-floor flat locked from the outside. After breaking the door open, he found his daughter’s lifeless body in a suitcase, naked and unresponsive.

The distraught father recounted the harrowing moment, saying, "When I reached that flat, I broke the lock. Inside, I saw the girl in a suitcase. She was unconscious. I took her to the nursing home right there in the street." He explained that she had left home to deliver ice to relatives nearby but never arrived.

The police were alerted at approximately 8:41 pm on Saturday regarding the sexual assault of a minor. Upon reaching the scene, they learned that the girl had been taken to JPC Hospital, where she was declared 'brought dead.' Medical staff noted visible injuries on her face, suggesting foul play.

Crime and FSL teams are currently investigating the scene, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the perpetrator. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, with multiple teams deployed to gather evidence and apprehend the accused.
