Delhi/Jalandhar, Jun 7: Fr Maxim, a well-known catholic priest from Delhi and professor at the Major Seminary in Jalandhar, passed away suddenly on Friday following a heart attack. He was 54.
A respected academic and spiritual guide, Fr Maxim held a doctorate in philosophy and was known for his deep knowledge, quiet humility, and commitment to the formation of future priests. His sudden death has come as a shock to students, colleagues, and members of the Catholic community across the country.

Originally ordained in the archdiocese of Delhi, Fr Maxim had dedicated much of his life to teaching and guiding seminarians. At the Jalandhar seminary, he was admired for blending intellectual rigour with spiritual insight, making his philosophy classes both thought-provoking and faith-filled.

“He was a man of depth and grace, who shaped minds and hearts with care and conviction,” said a fellow priest who worked closely with him.

Tributes have been pouring in since the news broke. Many remembered him not just as a scholar, but also as a kind, approachable priest who lived his vocation with sincerity and quiet strength.

“Dear Maxim, your sudden departure is shocking and deeply saddening. May you rest in peace,” read one tribute shared by a former student.

Known for his simplicity, warmth and strong sense of prayer, Fr Maxim had become a beloved figure both in seminary corridors and among parish communities in Delhi. His teachings and example have left a lasting mark on many.

The Archdiocese of Delhi has asked the faithful to pray for the repose of his soul. Funeral details are expected to be announced soon.
