Harvey Weinstein Retrial: Mogul admits immorality, denies criminal acts

New York, Jun 6: Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, currently on retrial for sex assault charges, admitted to acting ‘immorally’ but denied any criminal wrongdoing as the jury deliberated for the second day on Friday.

Weinstein’s previous 23-year sentence was overturned by a New York appeals court, but he remains imprisoned on separate charges. Speaking in a FOX5 interview amid the trial, Weinstein expressed regret for the impact on his family but insisted, ‘never illegal, never criminal.’

Prosecutors called him a sexual predator who abused his power, urging jurors to convict him for alleged assaults on three women in 2006 and 2013. Weinstein’s defense claimed the encounters were consensual, citing a “casting couch” dynamic.

The jury requested to revisit testimony from two accusers as the case continues in a Manhattan courtroom. Weinstein’s 2017 fall sparked the global #MeToo movement. He is already serving a 16-year sentence in California for related offenses.
