Chennai, Jun 5: Fans of director Nelson Venkatesan are in for a treat, as his much-anticipated crime drama DNA, starring Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan, is all set for a worldwide release on June 20.
Production house Red Giant Movies broke the news on its X handle Thursday, posting:
“Truth runs in the blood. #DNAMovie Worldwide Release on June 20th. Written & directed by @nelsonvenkat. Produced by @Olympiamovis @Ambethkumarmla.”
The buzz surrounding DNA has been steadily building since its intense teaser dropped. The preview revealed that both protagonists—Anand (Atharvaa Murali) and Divya (Nimisha Sajayan)—share a rebellious streak, challenging a system that sees them as outcasts.
Their defiance takes a dark turn when trust between Anand and Divya is shaken by a potential crime, setting up a tense and intriguing narrative. The teaser also hints at deeper themes with the cryptic line: “Two strands wound to make a twisted ladder,” suggesting a DNA-themed mystery that feels refreshingly different from typical crime fare.
Apart from its leads, DNA boasts a stellar supporting cast, including Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Viji Chandrasekar, Chetan, Riythvika KP, Subramanian Siva, Karunakaran, and Pasanga Sivakumar.
Director Nelson Venkatesan, known for acclaimed films like Oru Naal Koothu, Monster, and Farhana, helms this project, produced by Jayanthi Ambedkar.
The film’s music is a collaborative effort from Ghibran Vaibodha and composers Sreekanth Hariharan, Sathya Prakash, Anal Akash, Praveen Saivi, and Sahi Siva. Cinematography is by Parthiban, with Sabu Joseph VJ handling editing. Siva Shankar serves as art director, while Don Ashok choreographs the stunts. The script was co-written by Athisha Vino.
With its unique premise and star-studded team, DNA promises to be a captivating ride when it hits screens on June 20.
