Beijing, Jun 5: The upcoming Xiaomi 16 is generating significant excitement in tech circles, with fresh leaks hinting at a massive 7,000mAh battery — a notable leap from the 5,240mAh unit found in its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15.
The information, shared by prominent Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, suggests Xiaomi is preparing to make a bold move in battery capacity, catering to users who demand long-lasting performance for gaming, media consumption, and productivity.
On the display side, the Xiaomi 16 is tipped to feature a screen in the 6.3X-inch range, with estimates placing it around 6.32 inches — nearly identical to the Xiaomi 15’s 6.36-inch OLED panel. While the display size may not change significantly, the massive battery upgrade has drawn attention from tech enthusiasts worldwide.
However, the biggest question now is whether this expanded battery will affect the thickness or weight of the device. So far, Xiaomi has remained tight-lipped, offering no official word on the trade-offs involved in accommodating such a large battery.
Adding to the anticipation, the Xiaomi 16 is also expected to debut with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset — the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, promising better energy efficiency and performance enhancements.
The smartphone is likely to launch in September, aligning with Xiaomi’s annual flagship cycle. This leak also reinforces earlier reports from April that pointed to the same battery specifications, suggesting a strong possibility that Xiaomi is indeed planning to push the limits of battery endurance in flagship phones.
With more details expected to surface in the coming weeks, Xiaomi fans and industry watchers alike are keeping a close eye on developments — as the brand aims to raise the bar once again in the premium smartphone space.
