Global Youth Summit 2025 inaugurated at Yenepoya University

Mangaluru, Jun 4: The State NSS Cell, department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka, in association with Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), is organizing the Global Youth Summit 2025 – International Conference from June 4 to 6 at the Yendurance Zone on the university campus. The inaugural ceremony of the Youth Summit was held on June 4.

The event was inaugurated by the hon’ble Dinesh Gundu Rao, minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, and minister in charge of Dakshina Kannada district. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the global changes taking place and highlighted that education and training are powerful tools for transformation. He urged youth to break barriers and become active participants in solving key societal challenges such as environmental issues, civil rights, human rights, transgender rights, and women's rights.

“Youth are a global force and can make significant contributions to addressing pressing issues,” he said. He encouraged delegates to participate actively in all sessions and discussions of the conference. He further stressed the importance of good behavior, healthy lifestyles, and continuous learning to address contemporary challenges. “Every individual matters—stay healthy, stay informed, and contribute to national development,” he concluded, echoing the summit’s slogan: ‘Uniting youth, igniting change, inspiring the future.’

Chethan, IPS, commissioner, department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka, delivered the welcome address. Dr Prathap Lingaiah, State NSS Officer, provided a brief background of the Global Youth Summit.

Dr Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), presided over the function and emphasized the critical role of youth in national development, urging them to contribute meaningfully to society.

Dr M Vijayakumar, vice chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), delivered the keynote address. Distinguished guests present on the dais included: Abhayachandra Jain, former minister for Youth and Sports, Mamatha Gatty, president, Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation, Sadashiva Ullal, chairman, MUDA, Thimmayya, district health officer, Dr B H Shripathy Rao, pro vice chancellor and Dr K S Gangadhara Somayaji, registrar of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ashwini Shetty, director, Directorate of Extension and Outreach activities, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).
