Udupi: Karavali Hindus targeted under Siddaramaiah government: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary

Udupi, Jun 3: In a sharp criticism of the current state government, BJP MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has alleged that the administration under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is deliberately targeting Hindus in the Karavali. He was speaking at the BJP district office, Kadiyali.

Speaking to the media, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "Unseen and unfair actions are unfolding in Karavali, and Siddaramaiah's government is directly responsible. It is clear that Hindus are being singled out and oppressed. The government is behaving no less than Aurangzeb, who was historically known for his oppressive actions against Hindus."

He accused the Congress-led government of selective silence and inaction in serious cases. "There was no strict action on the cooker bomb incident. When slogans like 'Pakistan Zindabad' were allegedly heard in the Assembly, there was no outrage from the government. But the moment Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat gave a speech seeking justice for Suhas Shetty and demanded a probe by the NIA, an FIR was filed against him. Some activists have been expelled, and cases have been registered against them. What kind of justice is this?"

“During a police raid in Mangaluru, GPS pictures were taken, and when questioned, the police reportedly said it was on the orders of higher authorities. Is this the kind of governance we want? The government is misusing the police force to target Hindu activists and ordinary people. Today, the police are questioning people about the Ramayana and Mahabharata. In previous incidents, they never dared to question others about their holy scriptures," he stated.

The MP questioned the motives behind the state's selective action. "Why are only Hindu activists are being arrested? Is there no freedom of speech, no freedom of expression left in this country? In this democratic Constitution, we are now seeing a direct attack on Hindu religion. I request the home minister Parameshwara and concerned ministers to step in and ensure that these attacks on Hindus are stopped immediately. I demand Siddaramaiah to stop this one-sided action against Hindus. These actions will only lead to widespread protests by the BJP."

Citing a recent incident in Udupi, He added, "One person shared a message and got arrested. This clearly shows that the government is putting immense pressure on the police department. Such aggressive behaviour and misuse of power must be stopped. Whether Hindu or Muslim, no community should face injustice. But what we are witnessing today is a series of actions that are clearly directed at Hindus, and this must not be tolerated. If this continues there will be strong oppose and protest from the party."

The press meet was joined by BJP leaders Srinidhi Hegde, Girish Anchan, Shivakumar Ambalpady, Dinesh Amin.
