New Delhi, Jun 1: In a major crackdown on a Pakistan-backed espionage network, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out raids at 15 locations across eight states on Saturday.
The searches were conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and West Bengal at the premises of suspects reportedly linked to Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).

During the operation, NIA teams seized multiple electronic gadgets, sensitive financial records, and other incriminating materials. Officials said the seized items are being examined for further evidence of the espionage network, allegedly being run as part of a wider anti-India conspiracy.
The case was registered on May 20 following the arrest of a key accused who had been sharing classified information with Pakistani operatives since 2023. The suspect had reportedly received funds through Indian conduits in exchange for leaking sensitive national security data.
The ongoing investigation is being pursued under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, the Official Secrets Act 1923, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
