Chennai, May 31: Director Santhakumar’s romantic crime drama ‘Rasavathi’ (The Alchemist) continues to garner global acclaim, securing five nominations in the prestigious International competition category at the Nice International Film Festival in France.
Sharing the exciting update on his X account, Santhakumar expressed his pride: “Respect and recognition for a Tamil movie ‘RASAVATHI’ from FRANCE. Officially selected for the International competition in five categories. #Rasavathi.”
The film, which stars Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran, has already made waves across international film festivals. Arjun Das’s compelling portrayal of Siddha doctor Sadasiva Pandiyan earned him the Best Actor award at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2025, where the film was chosen from a pool of over 700 entries. He also clinched the Best Actor accolade for the same role at the New Jersey Indian and International Film Festival in 2024.
In addition to acting honors, ‘Rasavathi’ was recognized for its technical excellence, winning Best Sound Design at the London International Film Festival 2025. Sound engineer Tapas Nayak’s outstanding work triumphed over nine global competitors, including films like Nobody Wants to Shoot a Woman and The Therapy.
The ensemble cast also includes Sujith Shankar, Ramya Subramanian, G.M. Sundar, Reshma Venkatesh, Sujatha, and Rishikanth.
The film’s evocative score is composed by SS Thaman, marking his third collaboration with Santhakumar. Cinematography was handled by Saravanan Elavarasu and Sivakumar, while editing was crafted by V J Sabu Joseph. Dance sequences were choreographed by Sathish Krishnan, with art direction by Sivaraj and sound effects designed by Sethu. Tapas Nayak also led the sound mixing efforts.
‘Rasavathi’ continues to establish itself as a remarkable piece of Tamil cinema, celebrated both at home and on the international stage.
