Mangaluru, May 27: Carmel School CBSE, Kotekar, marked a transformative step in modern education by organizing a pioneering Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop on May 26. The event, designed to equip educators with cutting-edge AI tools and forward-thinking teaching strategies, brought together 60 participants, including the principal, institutional heads, technical staff, and teachers.

The workshop was graced by the esteemed presence of Sr Pramila AC, principal, and Sr Anitha AC, vice principal, along with distinguished resource persons Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes and Leo Victor Zalki, both acclaimed professionals in the field of AI and emerging technologies.

The day commenced with a soulful prayer song led by Demcy, setting a reflective and focused tone. Disha extended a warm welcome to the guests, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the advancement of AI in education.

The technical sessions were facilitated by two renowned AI experts:

Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, director of the Canara Communication Centre, Mangaluru, is a Google-Certified AI Coach, seasoned media professional, and a passionate advocate for educational technology.

Leo Victor Zalki, director of Oxidane Enviro LLP, Mangaluru, is an Oracle and Google-Certified AI Professional with vast expertise in AI integration and innovation.

Their interactive sessions provided educators with practical insights into leveraging AI in the classroom. Topics covered included: Adaptive learning and personalized instruction, Ethical AI practices in education, Content creation using AI tools, Data-driven teaching strategies, Time-saving AI tools for teachers and Enhancing student engagement through AI.

Fr Fernandes emphasized, “AI is not here to replace teachers but to amplify their creativity and efficiency. By embracing AI, educators can reimagine how knowledge is delivered and foster a dynamic learning environment.”

Echoing his thoughts, Zalki stated, “Educators are the architects of the future. AI tools empower us to create interactive, student-centric classrooms that promote critical thinking and creativity.”

Participants took part in engaging hands-on sessions, exploring AI tools such as image and speech recognition, guided through simplified explanations that made complex concepts accessible. This blend of theory and practical learning ensured an enriching experience for all.

Highlights of the day included:Distribution of AI Toolkits for Education to all attendees, Awarding of premium AI tools to ten lucky participants and Interactive feedback sessions that fostered peer learning.

The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Rakshitha, who acknowledged the efforts of the resource persons and organizers. The event was seamlessly anchored by Savitha, ensuring smooth coordination throughout.
