Lucknow, May 24: In a move poised to place Uttar Pradesh on the global eco-tourism map, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s green vision is being vigorously implemented by the state’s Forest and Wildlife Department. With a renewed focus on conservation and sustainable travel, the state is steadily transforming into a haven for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

At the heart of this eco-conscious initiative lies the ‘Buffer Mein Safar’ scheme, aimed at enhancing tourist engagement within the buffer zones of key tiger reserves including Dudhwa, Pilibhit, and North Kheri. The plan is already gaining traction with new safari routes being opened up, giving tourists a unique chance to explore nature's bounty beyond core reserve areas.

Areas like Bhira and Mohammadi are now emerging as fresh eco-tourism hotspots, with local residents being trained as guides, canteen staff, and hospitality aides – a move that not only ensures skilled manpower but also fuels rural employment and empowerment.

Tourism is being extended into the monsoon season, offering visitors uninterrupted jungle safari experiences, a rare opportunity in Indian wildlife tourism. The initiative has also expanded to southern Kheri, where tourist circuits are being promoted in Gola, Mohammadi Range, and Bhira, further tapping into the region’s untouched natural wealth.

Semrai Lake, a serene location frequented by migratory birds, has been added to the eco-tourism circuit, positioning it as an ideal spot for birdwatchers and nature photographers.
Additionally, the buffer zone of Katarniaghat, nestled near the Nepal border, now offers jungle safaris, providing tourists with a chance to experience rich biodiversity and lush landscapes.

To complement these efforts, a modern information centre has been inaugurated at the Dudhwa tourism complex, serving as a hub for environmental awareness, local culture, and wildlife education. Training sessions for guides and support staff are being conducted to ensure visitors receive a high-quality and informed experience.

Officials say that the state's eco-tourism strategy is already yielding results, with a visible increase in footfall and growing interest from both domestic and international travellers.

Backed by strong administrative will and community participation, Uttar Pradesh is well on its way to becoming India’s next premier eco-tourism destination, setting a model for sustainable travel and inclusive growth.
