Bengaluru, May 21: A Bengaluru resident has issued a legal notice to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), accusing the civic body of gross negligence and failure in performing its public duties, which allegedly led to her severe physical ailments.
Dr Divya Kiran served the notice to BBMP, seeking a compensation of Rs 50 lac for the physical pain, emotional trauma, and financial burden she claims to have suffered due to the poor condition of public roads maintained by the civic authority.

According to the details mentioned in the legal notice, Kiran has been suffering from neck and back pain, conditions she attributes to the repeated jerks and impacts encountered while travelling on Bengaluru’s poorly maintained roads.
Speaking on behalf of Kiran, advocate K V Laveen sent the legal notice from Richmond Town, stating that the BBMP’s failure to maintain motorable and safe roads within its jurisdiction directly led to her client’s health issues.
“The deep potholes, broken and uneven roads, and the overall unfit-to-travel road surfaces have caused my client intense pain, trauma, and suffering,” the notice alleged.
Kiran has demanded that BBMP take responsibility for the damages caused and compensate her with Rs 50 lac for the physical, mental, and financial distress endured.
The legal notice marks a rare instance of a citizen holding the civic body directly accountable for health issues caused by infrastructure neglect, and it may set a precedent for similar claims in future.
