Mumbai, May 17: Aamir Khan Productions has replaced its logo with the Indian National Flag on all official social media handles, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, sparking widespread speculation online.
The move comes amid mounting boycott calls targeting the actor’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, scheduled for release on June 20. The backlash intensified over Khan’s delayed response to Operation Sindoor a major Indian Armed Forces strike against terror camps in Pakistan and PoJK and the resurfacing of an old video from his Turkey visit.
Soon after the profile update, users on Reddit labelled the change as “damage control.” One user commented, “Lol he's being boycotted online so clearly did it as damage control,” while another wrote, “Bekar me damage control kar rahe hai.”
On May 12, Aamir Khan Productions posted on X: “Salute to the heroes of Operation Sindoor. Heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to the security of our nation. Thank you to the Honourable Prime Minister for his leadership and determination. Jai Hind.”
However, many questioned the timing of the post, suggesting it was strategically aligned with the film’s promotions.
Addressing tensions between India and Pakistan at a recent event, Aamir Khan said, “We need justice and assurance that it [terrorist attacks] won't happen again. We believe in our government, they'll take action against the anti-social elements who committed this and bring them to justice.”
The trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par has been released, generating buzz ahead of its June release.
