Ahmedabad, May 15: In a shocking incident from Ahmedabad’s Maninagar area, a woman fell severely ill after discovering a lizard tail inside an 80 ml Havmor Happy Cone ice cream she was eating. The ice cream was purchased from an ice cream parlour located at Mahalakshmi Corner on Dev Kutir Avenue.
The woman reportedly felt an unusual sensation in her mouth while consuming the ice cream. Upon closer inspection, she found a part of a lizard embedded inside the cone. This distressing discovery led to severe vomiting, and she was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Following a complaint, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) swiftly took action and sealed the ice cream parlour. Officials revealed that the parlour had been operating without the necessary license and registration. The contaminated cone was traced back to a Havmor Ice Cream manufacturing unit located in Naroda, Ahmedabad.
The AMC imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the factory and ordered a recall of the entire batch of the affected ice creams to safeguard public health. Samples of the Havmor Happy Cone were collected for further laboratory testing.
Responding to the incident, a spokesperson from Havmor said, “The incident has been brought to our attention and we are currently investigating the matter. We are in touch with the concerned consumer and are committed to thoroughly investigating the issue at hand. At Havmor, we take utmost care and are committed to maintaining the highest global standards for product quality and safety.”
The authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious food safety issues immediately. The investigation is ongoing.
