New Delhi, May 12: For the first time in recent days, Jammu and Kashmir experienced a peaceful night with no military activity reported along the Line of Control (LoC) or the International Border (IB).

The Indian Army confirmed the development on Monday morning, stating that "the night remained largely peaceful across Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the International Border." This marked a welcome respite after a period of heightened tensions.

In its statement, the Army emphasized that no incidents were reported, describing it as the "first calm night" in several days. The calm comes after intense military action, including India’s launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, which targeted and destroyed seven terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam.

Since the launch of the operation, India has continued its counter-offensive measures under the same operation in response to Pakistani provocations.

Earlier this weekend, India and Pakistan reached an agreement to halt all military actions across land, air, and sea, effective from 5 pm on Saturday.

While both sides agreed to de-escalate, there were some reports of violations by the Pakistani military on the night of the ceasefire announcement. Despite this, the situation on Monday morning remained calm.
