New Delhi, May 9: In a dramatic escalation of hostilities along the western front, the Indian Army confirmed that multiple overnight attacks by Pakistan on May 8-9 were “effectively repulsed,” with the Armed Forces delivering a “befitting reply” across all fronts.
The barrage of drone assaults, missile strikes, and ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir began late Thursday night and stretched into the early hours of Friday, marking one of the most intense nights of military confrontation in recent years.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Indian Army said:
“Drone attacks were effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given to the ceasefire violations. We remain committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force.”
Defence officials revealed that key military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were directly targeted using drones and missiles. Integrated air defence units swiftly intercepted eight Pakistani missiles aimed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, preventing any significant damage or casualties.
“The attacks resemble a ‘Hamas-style’ assault strategy seen in the Middle East,” a defence source told Daijiworld, citing chilling visuals and tactical similarities.
Alarmingly, intelligence agencies have indicated that a meeting between Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and terror outfit Hamas may have taken place recently, adding a dangerous new dimension to the unfolding conflict.
The United States, amid the intensifying confrontation, has stepped in with calls for restraint. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with both Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging immediate de-escalation and advocating for direct dialogue between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Despite diplomatic efforts, the situation remains volatile. India's Armed Forces remain on high alert, reinforcing their presence along vulnerable corridors in Jammu and Kashmir and other sensitive zones across northern and western India.
As tensions continue to simmer, the nation watches closely, with defence analysts warning that any further provocation could draw the region deeper into conflict.
