PM Modi charts bold path to developed India by 2047

New Delhi, May 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid out his long-term vision for transforming India into a fully developed nation by 2047, placing national interest and self-reliance at the heart of his governance strategy.

Addressing a media gathering, PM Modi stressed that the past decade has marked a fundamental shift in how India is governed. “India progresses when the nation is the priority,” he said, contrasting his government’s decision-making with what he described as decades of politically motivated inaction.

“Earlier, decisions were delayed out of fear—fear of global opinion, political backlash, or vote bank erosion. That mindset stunted India’s growth. Our government broke that cycle,” he said.

Touching on economic reforms, he highlighted the revival of India’s banking sector. “In 2014, our banks were teetering on collapse. Today, they’re thriving—posting record profits and giving depositors confidence. This turnaround was possible only because we brought in tough, necessary reforms,” he said.

PM Modi linked this financial resurgence with a larger national vision: making India self-reliant and globally respected. “We were once labelled a consumer market. But now, we are emerging as global manufacturers, whether in electronics, semiconductors, or defence,” he noted.

Citing major strides in defence production, he said India’s exports in this sector now reach over 100 countries. “From building indigenous warships like INS Vikrant to manufacturing key military equipment, we’ve shattered the myth that India must rely on imports for security,” he said.

Wrapping up, PM Modi reiterated that his administration’s every reform and decision is part of a single, unified mission. “A developed India by 2047 is not just a dream. It is our collective mission. We are building a nation that future generations will be proud of,” he said.
