Washington, May 1: In her first significant public appearance since the 2024 U.S. election, former vice-president Kamala Harris delivered a sharp critique of the Trump administration’s policies, particularly targeting its record on the economy and immigration.

Addressing a gathering organized by Emerge, a group dedicated to training and promoting Democratic women for public office, Harris took the stage with renewed vigor and a clear message: the fight for America’s future is far from over.

Harris accused the Trump administration of prioritising divisive policies that “hurt working families and turned compassion into chaos at the border.” She also voiced concern over what she described as “a rollback of hard-won rights and values.”

However, amid the sharp rebuke, Harris struck a note of resilience and optimism:

“Fear isn’t the only thing that’s contagious. Courage is contagious.”

The former vice-president’s address marks her political re-emergence after the Democrats’ defeat in the 2024 election, signalling her continued role as a prominent voice in the party’s rebuilding efforts.

The event drew attention from key Democratic figures and grassroots activists, many viewing Harris’s return to the spotlight as a rallying call ahead of upcoming congressional races.
