Gurugram, Apr 30: A massive fire broke out in the slums and scrap area of Sector 102 in Gurugram around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, gutting 40 to 50 huts and leaving many residents homeless. Fire officials said the blaze spread rapidly through the densely packed settlement, destroying belongings and triggering panic.
Fire tenders from Bhim Nagar, Sector 37, Sector 29, and Pataudi were deployed, and the fire was brought under control by 7 am “There were around 150 huts in the area. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported,” said Fire Officer Narender.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been triggered by a stove while someone was making tea. Several small LPG cylinders reportedly exploded during the fire, worsening the situation. Around 400 to 450 people were safely evacuated.
Rescue and cooling operations continued into the morning, with a fire tender stationed on-site as a precaution. A detailed search will be carried out once the area cools down completely.
