Fr Vishwas Misquith SJ, (secretary and treasurer, Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society), was the chief guest. In his address, he said, “Education is the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, and habits. Even though it's limited to formal settings like schools and colleges; education happens through various forms, including self-learning, experience, and interactions with others. Education empowers individuals to understand the world around them, develop critical thinking skills, and contribute positively to society.

"The student council in an educational institute serves as the voice of the student body, advocating for their needs, concerns, and interests. It bridges the gap between the students and the administration, ensuring that student perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. The student council provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. These skills, especially, for teacher-trainees, are invaluable for their personal growth and future success in various aspects of their professional life and it also helps them to inculcate desirable qualities like confidence, integrity, and responsibility to effectively manage their classrooms and to assume any responsibility in their school in the future" he said and wished the students council 2024-25 may help in promoting a sense of belonging, and fostering a positive and inclusive culture among the trainee teachers.

Speaking on the occasion, the principal, Dr Farita Viegas, extended congratulations to each member of the student council 2024-25, and she said, “The members of the student council, have been entrusted with the important responsibility of representing their peers’ interests and ideas.
