Udupi: Community of solidarity can be built through cooperative spirit - Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves

Udupi, Feb 12: "A strong community of unity and solidarity can be built in the society when everyone lives as brothers and sisters in a spirit of cooperation," said Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vciar general diocese of Udupi. 

He presided over the Holy Eucharistic celebrations held as part of the community day programme organized at St Anne's church, Thottam on Sunday February 11. He also presided over the felicitation programme held afterwards.

He further aid, "Bearing in mind that the church is the first family of Christians, our brotherhood can become even stronger when all the members of the church come together and demonstrate their unity." He said that in the modern world there are many ways to separate us, but community day will be a way to live together.

In his introductory speech, Fr Denis D'sa, parish priest said, "The Church has a total of 11 wards where every family member participates in the community day programme with one mind which shows the unity we have. Jesus Christ is the central point of each of us and called us to build a healthy community by giving good service in our lives."

The newly appointed vicar general of Udupi diocese Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves was felicitated by the church on the occasion.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Bible quiz and other competitions organized by the church.

Stephen Rodrigues, deacon Sr Prescilla, superior St Anne's convent Sunil Fernandes, vice preisdent parish pastoral commitee Blesilla Crasta, secretary Vanita Fernandes, convener 20 commissions Shanti Fernandes, coordinator of the small Christian community, were present.

A cultural programme was organized by the members of the 12 wards of the church.
