Mangaluru: St Mary’s English Higher Primary School conducts Annual Sports Meet

Mangaluru, Feb 5: St Mary’s English Higher Primary School conducted Annual Sports meet on January 31 on the school ground. The chief guest Athena Aranha was escorted to the stage by the school band along with Sr Maria Kripa AC joint secretary, Sr Maisie AC the headmistress, Sr Jyothika AC co-ordinator of Preparatory School and Rekha PTA vice president.

The school flag was carried by a team of boys marching with great reverence to the chief guest. This was followed by the march past competition for class 4 to 7. God’s blessing was invoked through a prayer song by class 4 B students. The guests were welcomed by Anitha. The sports flag was hoisted by the chief guest and declared the sports meet open by releasing a pair of doves.

School athlete Sharavani carried the sports torch and passed it on to the chief guest and placed it on its stand. The oath was taken by all the students. The chief guest addressed the gathering and in her message highlighted the values of participation, courage and confidence in sports.

Rebecca Maria D’Cunha of class 7 was felicitated for being the participant in Swimming at National Level Delhi.

The vote of thanks was given by Rebecca D’Cunha of class 7. Sowmya compered the entire programme and Veera gave the commentary of the march past.

The finals of the running race 50m and 100m were held. The relay finals were conducted. After which the winners were given the medals and certificates. The flag was lowered later and thus the sports meet came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by the headmistress.
