Mangaluru, Feb 4: A Day filled with emotions and sentiments to bid farewell to the students of grade 10 and 12 of Mount Carmel Central School on February 3. The day began with the thanksgiving eucharistic celebration and the outgoing students participated devoutly in it. Fr Rudolf Pinto OCD, in his homily advised the students to be grateful to God and their alma mater and never to let down the school and the teachers in any way but give them joy by leading a good life.
The farewell programme in the auditorium began with welcoming of the students of grade 10 and 12 with an Irish tap dance. Grade 9 and 11 students hosted the programme which began by invoking the divine. It was a devout ceremony wherein student representatives of grade 10 and 12, their mentors with the principal, administrator and vice principal came forward to light the lamp symbolising wisdom and knowledge.
The outgoing students were then led for an oath taking ceremony by the principal Sr Melissa. The students of grade 9 welcomed the gathering formally through a welcome dance and a welcome speech delivered by Kimberly D’Souza and Krislyn Fernandes. A short programme to cherish their memories of growing in this great institution was displayed through a PPT presentation and a group song. The programme was emceed by Ananya Monteiro and Lenn Tauro. Head girl Anvilla D’Souza of grade 10 and Thaneesha of grade 12 reminisced their experiences in school and how the institution helped them to grow and to be what they are today. Head boy Siddarth Shetty of grade 12 delivered the vote of thanks and along with Anvila handed over a burse to the school as a token of love and gratitude.
The administrator Sr Carissima motivated the students to keep up to the ethos and values of the alma mater. Sr Melissa, the principal in her message advised the students to remain true to the motto of the institution ‘Higher and Nobler’. She further wished them well to bloom in life with the blessings of the almighty, parents and mentors. The teachers handed over a memento to the students of grade 10 and 12. The programme ended with a fellowship meal.
