Udupi: Fr Alwyn Sequiera takes charge as editor of Uzwaad fortnightly

Udupi, Jun 7: Fr Alwyn Sequiera took charge as the editor of Uzwaad, Konkani fortnightly of the diocese of Udupi on June 3. Fr Royson Fernandes, the outgoing editor of the fortnightly handed over the files and key of the Uzwad office to Fr Alwyn Sequiera in a formal function held at Anugraha, diocese pastoral centre.

Fr Alwyn took the oath of office in the presence of Msgr Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general of Udupi diocese and the chairman of Deepa Trust under which the magazine is being published.

Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general thanked Fr Royson and welcomed Fr Alwyn wishing them both well for future missions. He also thanked Karnataka Goa Carmelites on behalf of the bishop for sparing Fr Alwyn for the diocese. Fr Henry Mascarenhas, secretary of Deepa Trust was also present on the occasion.

Fr Herald Pereira, director pastoral centre conducted the prayer service and oath-taking ceremony. Fr Praveen Pinto, the superior of Carmel Ashram represented the province for the event.

Fr Alwyn thanked the bishop for reposing trust in him and asked for valuable prayers and support to carry out his task responsibly.

Outgoing editor Fr Royson Fernandes will be leaving to Rome for higher studies.
