Karkala: Man dupes anganwadi worker of lacs on pretext of supervisor’s post

Karkala, Jun 1: A man duped an anganwadi worker of lacs of rupees after promising her the job of anganwadi supervisor in Bengaluru.

Venu Gopala has fleeced Shashikala (43), an anganwadi worker, wife of Shridhar Bhandary, a resident of Sacheripete post, Mundkoor village Karkala taluk, promising her job of an anganwadi supervisor’s post in Bengaluru.

The accused Venu Gopal, assuring the job had demanded Rs 2 lac from Shashikala on various occasions.

Shashikala on November 16, 2021 had transferred Rs 80,000 from her Canara Bank account in Sacheripete to Venu Gopal's elder brother Vishwanath’s account. Later, on November 24, 2021, she had transferred Rs 1,00,000, on November 25, 2021, she had transferred Rs 25,000, on December 2, 2021 she transferred Rs 55,003, on December 14, 2021 she had transferred Rs 10,000 and on December 20, 2021, she transferred Rs 10,000. All total, Shashikala had given him Rs 2,80,003. She had transferred cash to the account of Venu Gopal five times.

Moreover, Venu Gopal who came to Shashikala's residence on December 23, 2021 had requested her to give cash in the form of loan for treatment of his daughter as she was injured in an accident. Hence, Shashikala had given him Rs 2,20,000.

As Venu Gopal failed to return the borrowed money taken from Shashikala and when she tried to contact him over phone, Venu Gopal had blocked her number. Shashikala filed a complaint in Karkala rural police station. Police have registered a case under sections 415, 420 and 34 of the IPC.
