Puttur, Mar 24: In an incident that occurred at Keyyur of the taluk, a daughter had saved her mother by sucking the venom from the snake bite wound. Shramya, who is a degree student of Vivekananda college of the city was appreciated for her courage and timely act. However, now in a twist to the incident, on social media it is said that the snake which bit the woman was not cobra but Malabar Pit Viper. Shravya herself has given clarification over this matter.

Shramya said, “The snake which bit my mother was cobra itself. The doctors at the hospital also gave treatment accordingly. There is medical record in this regards also. Except the doctors, all others are spreading false propaganda that the snake which bit my mother is not cobra.”

Dr Raviprakash of Puttur said, “When a patient with snake bite arrives at our hospital, our priority is to treat the patient. We do the same. Treatment for all venomous snake bites is the same. Hence, we do not worry about the species of snake that has bit the patient.”

Shramya’s mother was bitten by a snake as she went to put on the electric pump set. Their house maid had tied a piece of cloth tightly above the wound to prevent the venom from rising into the body. However, Shramya felt that the tying of cloth might not be enough and suck the venom from the wound and took her to the hospital. Doctor also appreciated the effort and said that it was good that the venom was sucked out of the wound.

Even a Malabar pit viper's venom is very deadly!
