Mangaluru Jan 30: The teaser of Kannada movie ‘Kendada Seragu’ starring Mangalurean actress Shobhitha was released on January 23. Kendada Seragu is written and directed by Rocky Somli based upon an award winning novel.
Shobhitha hails from Mangaluru. She was born to Varija and Umesh Poojary and has a sibling Bhuvana. Shobhitha acted in Tulu and Kannada movies before grabbing the prominent role in Kendada Seragu. Shobhitha will also make her Telugu debut with ‘Parishodhana’ which will commence shooting from February 25.
Shobhitha is also a Yakshagana artiste. Shobitha never thought so deep that she would take up acting as her profession. She came to Bengaluru to become a PSI and was taking coaching for the same. At the same time, Shobhitha attended an audition and got selected as a second lead in a movie which motivated her to take up this profession. Shobhitha has a strong belief that her struggle will take her a long way.
Kendada Seragu is directed by Rocky Somli, produced by K Kotresh Gowda under the banner Sri Muttu Talkies, SK Productions. Veeresh Khambli has composed the music and Vipin V Raj has captured the movie. Malashree is playing an important role in the movie, along with Bhoomi Shetty, Yash Shetty, Sindhu Loknath, Vardhan, Prathima, Basu Hiremath and many more.
Speaking to daijiworld.com Shobhitha said, “I play a complete different character in the movie which was also a challenging role to play. In the beginning, I took the role very casually. As days progressed, I felt the depth in the role. I also felt that it was a role beyond my age. Kendada Seragu is woman oriented movie which shows the atrocity faced by a woman from a poor background.
“One of the directors Umesh Kumar, introduced me to Kendada Seragu director Rocky Somli. As soon as he saw my photoshoot, he was convinced that I would fit in for the role in the movie,” she said.
When asked about working with Malashree, Shobhitha said, “It was fan girl moment to work with Malashree. I learnt a lot from Malashree during the shoot, especially her simplicity and support. She also praised me for the role I was playing.”
Kendada Seragu is expected to release in the month of March or April.
