Gilbert Madtha (73), earlier resident of Darbe, Puttur (erstwhile gurkar of Darbe ward), husband of Letitia nee D'Souza, son of the late Lawrence Madtha and Ascess nee Pais, brother of Gratian, Letitia, Frederick, Winnifred, Richard, Cecilia, Jacintha and Reginald, and uncle of Fr Ivan Madtha, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

Funeral cortege leaves residence "Rose Marie Glen" on Niddel-Gokarna-Padil Road, off Maroli for Holy Cross Church, Cordel-Kulshekar, Mangalore at 3-30 pm on Wednesday, March 11, followed by Mass at 4-00 pm.

I recollect the days when Gibba was our Gurkar in Darbe. He not only was one of the best Gurkars, but also was a best friend too. Whenever there was a funeral in our ward, he was the first one to appear at the house of the deceased and would do all that was possible within his reach. He was extremely helpful on the day we lost my dear father. As I wish my deepest sympathies to Lethi bai, I pray that God grants him eternal rest and makes his soul enjoy heavenly bliss. Dear Lethi Aunty, Really very sad to hear the death of gibba uncle. He was a very good uncle, my children use to play with him during holidays, when we go to leenas house.
