Denis D’Silva was a prominent Catholic leader who had good contacts with the non-catholic community of Udupi and around. He was the founder member of Catholic Sabha and Diocesan Pastoral Council Member. Prominent founder member and former Chairman of Udupi Catholic Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Udupi. A Retd Principal of Manipal Junior College, Manipal, he was also the former President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh Regd., and founder Trustee of Manasa Rehabilitation & Training Centre, Pamboor-Padubelle.

It is very sad to know that Mr.Denis D’Silva has passed away. Denis D’silva is a very kind and helpful person. Though he was a great person, he was very down to earth and ready to help who seeks his help. I also one among them, who sought help from him. I am from a village where very few people had joined for professional courses. After my PU, me and my mother were struggling to get information about the colleges and courses. Then through few people we came to know about Mr. Denis D’silva. When we went to their house, he was so kind to guide me. It was he, who guided me to apply engineering seat in MIT through konkanni quota. Till then we were not aware of it. By then the last date was over, but inspite of his ill health, he accompanied me till the admission center and explained the authorities about my unawareness about the provision. Then they allowed me to apply, and I got the seat. So I didn’t have to go to far away place, where I got seat through CET. He did all these without any return expectations. He was helping a fellow Christian… that is what a common relation we shared. He was a good Samaritan for me and my family. I had visited him after I completed my course. May his soul rest in peace. I am sure almighty has made a great place for him in Heaven. Dear Philomina Aunty, please accept my condolence.
